Vítor Hugo Maluf Ferreira


The one that wrote this Portfolio is a student from the second year of the course Letras – Português/Inglês, trying to survive another year reading literature, making book reviews and presenting seminaries. But besides that, I’m a normal person.
I love the english language, I’ve been learning since I was eight, so now, with twenty years, I can say that I’m familiarized with it. If you are wondering why did I decided to make a course like Letras, I’ll answer: I’m just in because I like english. I entered the course because of english, hoping that I could learn new things and have new ideas, and for my pleasure, I had it. I really like the course, the english part, but I’m getting used to the literature. 
I have a dream that is to live in United States, for me it’s a really good country to live, but it isn’t easy; So I’m doing everything that I can to achieve it, knowing that it can take a long time. 
The course helped me a lot, but I also learned a bunch of things outside the classroom. It’s impossible to learn english just paying attention to classes, you need to see thing by yourself too, like watching movies and series, listening to music, everything helps. I only listen to english songs, I prefer it a 100% in comparison to portuguese music. 
Well, the center idea of this Portfolio isn’t talking about me, but how I learned english through the year, in class and by myself too. Hope that my teacher likes it. She’s an excellent teacher, by the way. I’m not being apple polisher; I’m just telling the truth. 
Last but not least, I want to thank everyone that helped me learning something new this year. It was an amazing experience! Hope that you have fun reading this.

1 – A Rush of Adrenaline

In this exercise we were asked to make a text about a moment that we felt a rush of adrenaline. I didn’t remember a lot of “rush of adrenaline” moments in my life, but I remember one that was very fun. The Water Park At the beginning of the year, I felt a rush of adrenaline that I will never forget. My girlfriend and I were on vacations in Minas Gerais, because it’s where my parents live. We wanted to do something new and funny, so we decided to go to a water park called “Thermas Dos Laranjais”. This water park is one of the biggest in Brazil. 4 - My English Future (Conclusion)

Well, of course that I want to say, "I don't know my future", but I will make an effort. 😅 After 10 years in contact with English, I know that I still have a lot of to learn. I want to improve my vocabulary and my grammar. Giving classes are helping me with that.  Something that I've realized is that pronunciation is extremely important in the process to learn a new language. It helps with the confidence to talk and express yourself. My boyfriend and I are planning to finish the major and go abroad to do a master. We want to continue to study and to become better teachers. Meanwhile, we still have to finish our third year. Hope you've enjoyed this portfolio!

2 - Writing - A Rush of Adrenaline and EPI

As I said before, I don't usually write in English. So, when the teacher told us to do a text about "A Rush of Adrenaline", and then a colleague would correct the mistakes, I was like "no teacher, I don't want to do that!" Turns out that I really like it and I know that most of my coleagues like it too. It was an oportunity to train how to correct our student's activities. That type of activity also made me see that I needed to stop underestimate my friends' capacities towards English. Amanda did my text's correction and she was excellent doing it. We even discussed the use of many words and we learnt very much with each other. Great experience! Another great and new thing that happened to me was that I had to write an article for the first time and present it in EPI (Encontro de Professores de Inglês).
